PRE-PURCHASE SURVEY A Pre-Purchase Survey is conducted to determine the condition of a vessel or equipment at that particular time. This survey assist the purchaser in determining if the vessel or equipment is properly equipped, if there are any existing flaws and if the asking price is in line.
CONDITION AND EVALUATION SURVEYS A Condition and Evaluation Survey is conducted to determine the condition of the vessel or equipment and report the market and replacement value for financial or insurances purposes. This type of survey is beneficial to the requester for final determination on loans or underwriting.
DAMAGE SURVEY A Damage Survey is conducted to determine the extent and value of damage sustained due to a collision or other marine accident. This survey is also used to determine liability. The surveyor must be knowledgeable in both maritime Rules of the Road and insurance policies to properly conduct a damage survey.
ULTRASONIC INSPECTION An Ultrasonic Inspection is conducted utilizing an ultrasound machine to determine the hull thickness of vessels. This survey indicates areas of the hull that are thin and may need replacement. This type of survey can only be conducted on vessel's with hulls constructed of metal.
SUITABILITY/TRIP SURVEY A Suitability/Trip Survey is conducted to determine if a vessel is suitable to carry a cargo or complete a specific voyage. This survey takes into consideration the condition of the vessel, the conditions the vessel is likely to encounter and the route chosen for the voyage. This survey is useful for both Cargo Charter Parties and Insurance Underwriters. A surveyor, requested to conduct this type of survey, must be knowledgeable in several areas pertaining to vessels, sea conditions and geography.
P & I INVESTIGATIONS A P & I Investigation is used to determine liability, extent of injury and monetary compensation needed following a marine accident or personal injury aboard a vessel or other marine facility. These investigations are carried out at the direction of either an Insurance Company or Attorney.
CRANE CERTIFICATIONS As Representatives of ICGB we witness the load testing of cargo lifting equipment. We also inspect the equipment for any defects and maintenance problems. These certifications are done at the direction of coordinators at ICGB.
